What it does

Turn the heat index number into a go-or-cancel call, a schedule, and the signs to watch.

Click any card to jump to its deep dive below.

Who it's for

Built for these decisions.

If any of these are your question, this is the tool.

Youth sports coach or league organizer at the field with the index climbing

Do we practice, shorten it, or call it off today?

โ†’ The planner takes the age group, the sport intensity, and your zip and returns a go, modify, or cancel with the specific changes: shorten to this many minutes, a water break every fifteen, full pads off. You make a defensible call instead of guessing while parents watch.

Outdoor crew lead on a roofing, landscaping, or paving job

How long can the crew work before a rest stops being optional?

โ†’ It returns the work-rest cycle for the conditions, minutes on and minutes off per hour, with the water-per-hour target, aligned to the thresholds OSHA and NIOSH publish. You run the shift on a schedule instead of finding out at noon that someone has stopped sweating.

Parent of young kids or caregiver for an older relative

Is it safe to be outside, and when?

โ†’ The hourly curve shows the window that is under your threshold and the signs to watch in a small child or an older adult, whose bodies handle heat differently than a healthy adult's. You take them out at the right hour and know exactly what change in them means come inside now.

Runner or endurance athlete planning a session

Can I train today, and how do I adjust?

โ†’ It gives the safe training window for your zip, the pace and duration to pull back to, and the fluid plan for the heat, with the early signs that mean stop. You train in the hour that will not put you in urgent care instead of skipping it or risking it.

The problem

A number and a color tell you it is hot. They never tell you whether the practice, the shift, or the afternoon outside is safe, or what to do instead.

It is seven in the morning and the heat index already reads 101. In two hours you have fourteen kids at soccer practice, or a crew of six starting a roofing job, or a father in his eighties who wants to spend the afternoon in the garden. You pull up a heat index calculator and it hands you a number and a color. Caution. Extreme caution. Danger. None of it tells you what to actually do. Can the kids practice if you cut it to ninety minutes and add water breaks, or do you call it off. How many minutes can the crew work before a rest is not optional. Is it the morning that is survivable or only the evening. What does the start of heat exhaustion look like in a nine-year-old versus a sixty-year-old, and at what point do you stop everything and get help. The weather app says feels like 103 and leaves the decision to you. The government pages explain heat illness in general terms and never once mention your kids, your crew, or this afternoon. So you make the call from your gut, and if you are the coach or the foreman or the one who brought your father outside, that call sits on you when someone goes down.

What you'd get

Four pieces, one tool.

Each piece ships in the first build for waitlist members. SaaS upgrades layer on top.

01 ยท feature

Go, modify, or cancel engine

Choose the person and the activity, a child at sports practice, a crew on a roof, an older adult gardening, a runner training, and type your zip. The engine pulls today's heat index and applies the National Weather Service thresholds, adjusted for who is exposed and how hard they are working, since the same 100 degree index is a different risk for a padded nine-year-old than for a resting adult. It returns one verdict with the reason. A calculator hands you the number and stops. This hands you the decision.

02 ยท feature

Work-rest and hydration schedule

For the conditions you are in, the planner gives the activity-to-rest ratio per hour and the water target per hour, built on the work-rest structure OSHA and NIOSH publish for heat. As the index climbs through the day the schedule tightens, more rest, more water, and it tells you the index where the activity should stop entirely. The general advice says take breaks and stay hydrated. This says how long, how often, and how much.

Warning signs for the person in front of you

A checklist of early heat-illness signs written for the specific person, because they differ. Children and older adults overheat faster and show it differently than a fit adult, and an athlete pushing through is the last to notice. The list names the early signs, dizziness, a headache, skin that stops sweating, confusion, and marks the symptoms that mean stop now and call for help. You watch for the right thing instead of waiting for the obvious one.

Safe-hour finder and a call you can send

The hourly heat curve for your zip and the window where it falls under the threshold you set, so you move the practice, the shift, or the walk to the hour that is actually safe. Then it prints a one-line call you send to the league, the crew, or the family: practice moved to 7 a.m., bring two bottles each, or job pushed to after four. The team tier saves your roster or crew and re-runs the call every morning of the season.

Why paid

Today's tools don't do this.

Misjudging the heat costs an emergency room or urgent-care visit when a kid or a worker goes down, and for a coach or a foreman it can mean liability and a season that ends in a lawsuit instead of a trophy. A single heat-exhaustion visit runs well past what this costs, and a heat stroke is far worse and sometimes permanent. The number on the calculator is not the decision, and the gut call made under pressure is the one that gets second-guessed afterward. The plan up front is $4.99. The wrong call is a visit, a liability, and a memory you do not get to undo.

โœ—Gives you the heat index number and the risk category, caution through extreme danger, and the general advice for that band. It never adjusts for whether you are a coach with kids or a foreman with a crew, never builds a work-rest schedule, and never tells you the safe hour to move to. You leave with the number you already feared and no plan.
Their pricing
โœ—Solid public-health guidance written for the whole country at once. It explains heat illness, who is at higher risk, and what to do in broad terms. It does not take your zip, your kids' age, or today's index and return a go-or-cancel call with a schedule. It informs you correctly and leaves the decision exactly where it was.
Their pricing
โœ—The closest thing that exists, but it is built for the worksite only. It shows a risk level and reminders for outdoor workers. There is no mode for youth sports, an older adult at home, or a runner, no per-person warning signs, and no shareable call for a league or a family. Useful for the foreman, silent for everyone else making the same decision.
Their pricing
โœ—Shows the feels-like temperature and an hourly forecast, which is the input, not the answer. There is no go-or-cancel logic, no work-rest schedule, no per-person signs, no threshold you can set. It tells you it is hot. You still have to decide what that means for the fourteen kids arriving in two hours.

What you get
One telehealth or urgent-care visit for a heat-related call runs $50 to $150 and up, and that is the good outcome where someone caught it early. This is $4.99 once at the early waitlist price to make the call before anyone needs the visit. The clinic still matters when someone is already sick. The planner is the part that keeps them out of it.

What you get now

Web tool. Pick the person and the activity, type your zip, and get today's go, modify, or cancel call, the work-rest and water schedule for the conditions, the early warning signs for that specific person with the stop line, and the safe-hour window with a one-line call you can send. Works in any browser on desktop and phone.

โ†—
What's coming

A saved roster or crew that re-runs the call every morning of the season, a push alert when your zip crosses the threshold you set, a team and contractor tier for leagues, camps, and job sites, and a printable heat plan and sign-in sheet for the season binder.

ยท
What's not included

This is not medical advice and not a diagnosis. It does not replace calling 911 when someone shows signs of heat stroke. It reads published heat thresholds and turns them into a plan for your situation. You make the final call and you act on the signs.

Solo builder ยท Choppy Toast

This page is a quick vibe-coded probe to test demand and gather feature requests. The actual product, when it ships, will be a polished, hand-built tool, not this scaffold.

For a sense of what "polished and shipped" looks like, here's another product I built: relly.permissionlabs.com.

FAQ

Honest answers.

Then the page stays live with no expiry. The sooner someone making the same heat call joins, the sooner I build it. Send it to the coach, the foreman, or the parent who needs it this week. That is the engine.
