Get off VMware in 90 days, not 18 months of vendor pilots.
Click any card to jump to its deep dive below.
Built for these decisions.
If any of these are your question, this is the tool.
Where do we start without ripping VDI and DB at the same week?
โ The plan picks the lowest-risk workload first. Stateless web tier to Proxmox in week 2, then file servers, then DB last after replica testing. The team gets one cluster moved in month 1, not a rewrite.
Is Hyper-V actually free or does the Datacenter SKU eat the savings?
โ The calculator pulls your Windows Server SKU coverage and computes the real per-core Hyper-V cost after Datacenter rights. The output is one number per cluster, with the SKU gap flagged in red if you are under-licensed for migration.
Give us one plan with the order, not two more vendor pilots in the lab.
โ Pick one target on the form. Proxmox, Hyper-V, OpenShift, Nutanix, or XCP-ng. The plan ships a single schedule that names the migration path. The opinion war ends on the page, not in the Slack channel.
Can we phase customer migrations so renewals do not all hit one quarter?
โ The schedule batches customers by renewal date and contract size. Big anchors first to free the budget, small clusters in parallel. The output is a 12-month calendar with the customer name and the cluster ID on each row.
A 4.5x Broadcom renewal, three vendor pilots in the lab, and no plan the platform team can execute Monday.
Your Broadcom renewal landed and the number is 4.5x. The $40K ELA came back at $180K because the 32-core cluster is now billed as 72 cores. Support tickets sit a week on P2. Gartner says half of all VMware workloads are off by 2028 and the r/sysadmin thread that lit it up has 1,420 pain points, 98% of admins on the exodus survey already shopping alternatives. You open three migration vendor decks. One pitches Proxmox, one pitches Hyper-V, one pitches OpenShift, none of them tells you the order. The CIO asks for the number on Monday. The senior asks if Nutanix is worth the AHV retraining. The junior asks if Proxmox can really import VMDKs. The meeting ends with 'let us pilot in Q3' and nobody opens the bid. Three months later the renewal clock is at 90 days and there are two pilot clusters in the lab that conflict on networking. The cost is not the migration. The cost is no plan that names the hypervisor first, splits the hosts second, and tells the team which cluster to drain on Monday morning.
Four pieces, one tool.
Each piece ships in the first build for waitlist members. SaaS upgrades layer on top.
Per-core license calculator
Paste your VMware SKU list, ESXi host inventory, and current renewal quote. The calculator computes the per-core cost on Proxmox, Hyper-V, OpenShift Virtualization, Nutanix AOS, and XCP-ng for the same host count. Most teams find the per-core cost drops 60 to 85 percent on Proxmox, 100 percent on Hyper-V where Windows Server already covers it. The number kills the 'maybe Broadcom will negotiate' meeting.

Workload split engine
The split engine reads your workload inventory and groups VMs by criticality, OS, and storage profile. Twelve groups by default. Stateless web, app tier, primary DB, replica DB, file server, VDI, build agents, monitoring, AD or LDAP, network appliances, dev sandbox, archive. Each group is assigned a target hypervisor with the reason on the row. You pick once on the form, the assignment follows your stack preference.
Migration hour and risk scaffold
Output is a writable plan, not pseudocode. Hours per cluster are estimated from VM count, storage TB, and chosen target. The risk table flags networking changes, license under-coverage, and storage protocol gaps. The scaffold compiles into a single PDF you can hand to the CIO and a CSV the platform team can paste into their ticket tracker. The plan does not stop at advice.
90-day schedule with cluster checklist
Month 1 lands lab build and ESXi VMDK import. Month 2 lands non-prod cluster drain. Month 3 lands prod cutover by cluster. Each cluster has a one-paragraph runbook ready to copy, with the rollback rule on the last line. The reviewer never asks 'what does this change touch'. The answer is in the runbook header.

Today's tools don't do this.
A platform engineer at $150 an hour spends 40 to 80 hours building a migration plan from scratch and the team still drifts because the plan lives in a Confluence doc nobody updates. A failed pilot cluster costs 80 to 200 hours of debug and storage rebuild before merge. The plan and the schedule cost $99 once, the bad pilot costs $15K to $40K in payroll, on top of the $140K renewal overrun.
Web tool. Paste your VMware SKU list, host inventory, and renewal quote. Get a per-core cost split across five target hypervisors, a workload split with named cluster assignments, a migration hour estimate per cluster, and a 90-day cutover schedule with a one-paragraph runbook for every cluster. Works in any browser on desktop.
API for ITSM integration, multi-customer batching for MSPs with shared license pools, vRealize and Aria operations data import, Terraform output for the chosen target, automated cluster discovery via ESXi read-only API.
Auto-applied VMDK conversion, automatic cluster cutover, hypervisor licensing purchase. The plan is the schedule and the scaffold, not the move. The team still drains the cluster, the plan tells them the order.

Solo builder ยท Choppy Toast
This page is a quick vibe-coded probe to test demand and gather feature requests. The actual product, when it ships, will be a polished, hand-built tool, not this scaffold.
For a sense of what "polished and shipped" looks like, here's another product I built: relly.permissionlabs.com.
Honest answers.
Then the page stays live. The waitlist has no expiry. The faster a teammate staring at the same Broadcom quote joins, the faster I build it. Bring the platform engineer who got the 4.5x renewal email. That is the engine.
